Varanasi is the holiest site for Hindus on the Ganges River. Supplicants bathe in the river and the ill will travel to Varanasi seeking health. Many will choose to die in this holy spot. Each evening, there is a hauntingly beautiful festival of lights ceremony, thanking the river for giving life, and ending by launching a sea of candles onto the river.
